WE WOULD LIKE TO INVITE ALL CLUB SECRETARIES, PLAYERS, FRIENDS AND EVERYONE INVOLVED WITH WELAFA TO COME AND SUPPORT THE REP TEAM ON THE NIGHT.

THE CYPRIOT LEAGUE ARE CURRENT HOLDERS OF THE TITLE AND ARE SURE TO HAVE A LARGE FOLLOWING !

Wednesday 21st March the WELAFA Representative Team will play its 2nd round Inter league Cup match against the London & Kent Border League

The match kicks off at 19:30 at Mile End Stadium. Rhodes Road. Poplar. E14 Nearest underground is Mile End, central line

The stadium has a large capacity and a covered stand.  We would like as many Club officials, managers, players and WELAFA referees to attend the match to give our lads a boost from the stands.  There are refreshment facilities and there is adequate car-parking at the ground.

WELAFA WINS

The WELAFA Representative Team played its first Inter League Cup match for 17 years last night 31/01/07, recording a 1-0 away win against the Turkish Community Football Federation!

It was a keenly fought contest between WELAFA and the current cup holders. WELAFA shaded it with a late goal from substitute Dean Jeffries.

The scoreline could have been more impressive if an earlier penalty had been converted, and a dying seconds header hadn't just gone wide of the opposition's post!

REP TEAM IN FINAL!!!

THE WELAFA REP TEAM IS THROUGH TO THE INTER LEAGUE CUP FINAL AFTER WINNING 2-1 AGAINST THE LONDON & KENT BORDER LEAGUE.

IN A WELL CONTESTED MATCH AT THE MILE END STADIUM ON 21ST MARCH, AFTER GOING BEHIND IN THE FIRST PERIOD TO A LUCKY BUT WELL EXECUTED LOB FROM THE L & K STRIKER. DEAN JEFFRIES (RESOLUTE) POWERED IN AN EQUALISING HEADER FROM NICK JAGO'S (RACING CHISWICK) CORNER KICK.

EARLY IN THE SECOND HALF, A GREAT MOVE BY WELAFA SAW J-GAIA'S JO NINOMIYA, PUT SUBSTITUTE AMMAR HASSAN (PRIMROSE HILL) THROUGH ON GOAL. THE KEEPER PARRIED HIS SHOT WHERE TERRY KING (J-GAIA) WAS ON HAND TO STEER IN A GREAT SHOT INTO THE LEFT HAND CORNER OF THE L&K GOAL.

L & K BATTLED IN VAIN FOR THE EQUALISER, BUT WELAFA HELD ON VALIANTLY TO GO THROUGH TO THIS SEASON'S PRESTIGIOUS INTER LEAGUE CUP FINAL!!!!
